I promised I would survey residents to find out about the impact of parking and overcrowded streets so that I can work to make sure your voice is heard by Plymouth City Council, who are ultimately responsible for parking policy within the city.
Constituency casework, recent drop-in surgeries and public meetings have raised the problems faced by some of my constituents as a result of parking close to their homes by commuters working nearby.
Clearly, the current transport works Plymouth City Council are conducting across the city are providing added pressures to those living and working in the large parts of Plymouth. I am also aware that the issues around parking have a direct link to the take up of the city’s public transport provision. However, in light of future development and housing planned in the city, I believe we need to be proactive in learning from existing issues and coming up with creative solutions for the future. Therefore, I want to take this opportunity to find out your experiences and views as local residents.
As your local Member of Parliament, I am keen to know what you think about this issue. I also want to find out the scale of the issue is and what ideas you may have for solving the problem. I believe that there are ways to alleviate some of the parking pressures in the north of the city and want to work with you to see what can be done.
I will take the results of the survey to Plymouth City Council and serve as your voice to lobby for improvements on your behalf and that of your local area. So please, do fill in the survey on the right-hand side of this page so we can start working with the council to make changes that can improve the day to day lives of ordinary Plymothians.
