a quick update from Johnny..

Ernesettle has for too long been a forgotten part of our beautiful City. I was delighted to intervene to make sure South West Water turned the water back on to ensure their allotments could continue to be a focal point of the community. Really enjoyed heading down and celebrating over a cream tea this week! Read about it here.

Delighted to have my first meeting with the leadership team at the YMCA in Plymouth as the President of the organisation. It is a fantastic organisation doing brilliant work with so many groups in Plymouth and it is a genuine honour to be working for them. Read about my appointment here.

Continuing the theme of honest politics, I am determined that we treat those who serve in our Armed Forces with the respect that they deserve. We cannot pretend that the sums have not changed to achieve a 2% spend of GDP – we must always be honest if we are to be as well configured as we can be to face the complex threats we face today. You can read my interview with the Times here.

I was pleased to appear on the weekend’s politics shows. I had to rebut some simply false and undeliverable promises from other politicians in Plymouth – I will never fall into the trap of treating those who vote for me as though they are stupid, and promise the world and deliver nothing. I think honesty is the best policy, and I would rather under promise and over achieve than the other way around.  Watch highlights here.

The public meetings have continued apace this week, We have held them all over Plymouth and I hope that you have had an opportunity to get along to one of them. It truly is the best way to keep plugged in to what is going on in our communities, and I am grateful to all who turned up.
