Plymouth Moor View MP, Johnny Mercer, has today welcomed the news that Sports England have made a £300,000 award in his constituency. YMCA Plymouth has secured the National Lottery funding award to modernise their facilities at Manadon Football Development Project.
The current playing fields at the site on St Peters Road will be upgraded to include a 3G artificial pitch, cricket nets, and a new pavilion building. Plans recently submitted show the development proposals, which will enhance the crucial role the current facilities play in the community.
Johnny Mercer MP organised and hosted a seminar back in November 2015 where Sports England representatives were invited to Weston Mill Sports and Social Club to speak to all the sports clubs in his constituency about how best to go about applying for funding and how to maximise their bids. It is fantastic to see that this seminar was helpful.
Speaking about the investment news, Johnny said:
“I am delighted to hear that YMCA Plymouth and this vital local sports facility in my constituency have been recognised by Sports England.
“To receive £300,000 of National Lottery funding is a credit to the team at YMCA Plymouth who do brilliant work across the city. This level of funding will enable them to transform their current facilities at Manadon Football Development Project, which means young people from across Plymouth will benefit from the modernised pitches and practice cricket nets.
“Congratulations to everyone involved with the funding bid.”
