Yesterday evening, Tuesday 28 February, in the House of Common, Plymouth Moor View MP, Johnny Mercer, shared a selection of letters from children at Whitleigh Primary School with Amber Rudd MP, the Home Secretary.
Johnny met with a group of pupils from the school just before Christmas when they shared with him their concerns about the experiences of unaccompanied children fleeing the war in Syria. They asked Johnny to ensure letters and poems were sent to the Home Secretary, who has overall responsibility for immigration into the UK.
Having sent their letters to the Home Secretary on behalf of the children, he has since received a response from the Immigration Minister, Robert Goodwill MP. Last night, Johnny arranged for the Home Secretary to read some of the letters and poems written by the children in her office in Parliament.
