Local MP Johnny Mercer backs repair of Whitleigh Play Park following arson attack

The play park on Bodmin Road in Whitleigh was damaged in an arson attack on Saturday night. Johnny was contacted about the fire and resulting damage by local constituents and as a result has raised the issue with the Council and offered his support to the Whitleigh Big Local community group.

Speaking about the issue Johnny said:

“Sadly, the community play park on Bodmin Road in Whitleigh has been damaged by vandals who set part of it on fire on Saturday night. I’ve been contacted by a number of local residents about this issue and have been in touch with the Whitleigh Big Local Team to offer my support for efforts to get the damage fixed as soon as possible. I also contacted Plymouth City Council to ensure they will do all they can to help the local community in Whitleigh and have been assured that they will work with the community to repair the damage.

“It’s vital that the children and young people of Whitleigh can have full use of the park again as soon as possible. If you know anything about the arson attack, please contact police on 101 or if you’d prefer to be anonymous, through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555111.”
