New plans submitted for Dawlish line improvements
It has been confirmed that Network Rail has submitted plans to Teinbridge District Council, with the knowledge of the Secretary of State for Transport, for a new, higher sea wall at Dawlish and the outcome of the council’s decision will help inform the government on next steps for the South West Rail Resilience Programme.
Despite recent reports to the contrary, this government is committed to meeting this challenge head on with all the relevant funding needed, but this must be properly evidence based. I am pleased Network Rail have acknowledged the hard work going into this and look forward to seeing progress in the near future.
