Progress on campaign to improve housing provision in Barne Barton
I have been liaising with constituents and Sanctuary Housing for many months now regarding serious ongoing issues with maintenance and upkeep of the properties in Barne Barton. Just prior to Christmas I walked around as many of the blocks and flats possible with representatives from Sanctuary and remained of the view that simply not enough was being done. I am therefore delighted to hear that Sanctuary are exploring the option of purchasing the site, with a view to redevelopment following a period of consultation, and residents have been advised of this by letter earlier today. High quality, affordable housing, both social and private, is what local residents have been calling out for and I welcome Sanctuary taking a proactive approach to overcoming the challenges surrounding house provision in Barne Barton.
This afternoon I held a meeting with Sanctuary Housing in Barne Barton. It was very positive; we addressed building repairs, maintenance and service charges, and agreed a big public meeting TBC in the near future for all residents -leasehold and freeholders alike. pic.twitter.com/UJZEjiUvis
