Train delays from Plymouth Thursday 14th April

I was made aware early yesterday, 14th April, about delays for commuters from Plymouth due to a broken down rail replacement train between Liskeard and Saltash.

My office raised this directly with Great Western Railway, Cross Country Trains and Network Rail, pressing them on details as to why initial assessments circulated through the local media were so wrong in underestimating the amount of time required to rectify this situation.

Unfortunately, this delay was due a broken down train which eventually required repairs via men working very near to the line so both tracks had to be closed between 1000 and 1300 to allow for this repair.

For any passenger affected, you can visit the Cross Country Trains compensation page here, and likewise for Great Western Railway here, for more information.
